Sun is near and sunburn is obvio. Sunburn is a condition that is caused due to excess exposure of UV lights. Our skin has defensive pigment- melanin that helps from harmful rays. When there is extreme contact of sun light the ability to protect skin degrades. In many cases sunburn can lead to skin cancers (in extreme case). You must stay away from sun when it is too bright and the exact timing is 12 and 3 PM in summers. Protect yourself with sun glasses, cotton cloths fully covered, sunscreen lotion and a scarf. Don’t keep yourself dehydrated so, have plenty of water. In spite of your best efforts your skin gets exposed to sun and suffer from sunburn then here are kitchen tips to reduce sunburn


However, scientifically it is proved that darker skin can bear longer sun exposure, whereas fair skin can only stand for 15 minutes under sun. This is because the melanin content in fair skin is less. You can detect sunburn with an hour or a day. Severe sunburn can cause blisters, fevers, nausea, age spots and premature wrinkles. Well, in minor cases it only affects your skin complexion by making it dark.

Home Remedies tips to reduce sunburn

  1. The best remedy to get sun burn out, apply yogurt on the area to heal. You must apply yogurt when you find that the skin becomes pink due to excess exposure.
  2. You also apply yogurt and aloe vera gel together on the sun burn skin. Keep the mixture on skin for 20 minutes. Let it dry and then wash it off.
  3. Apply aloe vera gel to reduce the sunburn pain as it contains vitamins, antioxidant property as well as cooling agent.
  4. Suitable sunburn treatment must be done and that includes oatmeal & warm water. Soak the oatmeal in warm water for 20 minutes. Make a fine paste and apply on the sunburn area. To make it feel cool by placing the tea bag on skin. Keep the tea bag back in fridge for next day treatment.
  5. When massaged with lavender oil and water mix, the skin will feel more relaxed and cool.
  6. You can apply crushed ice and tomato juice on affected area for sunburn relief.
  7. Make a paste out of turmeric, barley and yogurt in same value and apply on skin to reduce sunburn.
  8. Simply you can pat your skin with cold water or add vinegar into it too. This way you can cure sunburn.
  9. Rub sliced cucumber on affected area for 15 to 20 minutes if you don’t have the above stuffs in home.
  10. Sandalwood paste is been used from times unknown, so apply paste of sandalwood on affected area.
